Hi, my name is James Kockelbergh.
Thanks to the Internet I work from the eye-catching island of Menorca (Spain).

Welcome to my “about page” 😉
I will do my best to tell you a bit more about myself, how I got into the online World in the late 90’s and why I can help your business gain a better presence on the Internet.
If you would like us to work together or still have any questions after reading this page shoot me a message.
A bit of background
Originally from Coventry (England), I moved to Menorca in March 1983.
Spent my schooling years at La Salle de Mahón, moving on to IES Joan Ramis i Ramis for a year (which I did not enjoy).
My final move was to the Escola d’Art de Maó.
I spent around 10 years doing everything I could possibly do:
- Arts and Crafts.
- Jewellery Design.
- Silk Screen Printing.
- Bachelor of Art.
- Finally to specialise in marketing and graphic design.
During my student years, I worked every summer in the family business: catering.
Although it was not my dream job it did teach me a lot about people, business, PR, time & team management, stock control and a hell of a lot about how hard work really is 😉
Why I got into website design in the first place
The time came to move on so I spent several winters working at a couple of different local advertising/design agencies along with a bit of freelancing before landing a job at the local TV.
I spent 5 years in the advertising department where I got to learn the ins and outs of video production editing, advertising management and IT.
During my third year there I started to learn HTML and CSS because we started to think about having our own website that we would run in-house.
From that moment on I was hooked.
Transitioning towards web design seemed to be the logical thing to do for a graphic designer.
Thanks to a lot of contacts that I made during my TV years I started to design and layout static HTML websites while I freelanced for Triangle Postals designing books.
A few years later I added other services like domain name registry and hosting finally, to set up my own limited company 3 Webd, back in 2010.
After years of bureaucracy getting in the way of normal operations, I shut it down in January 2018 and went back offering the same services as a Freelancer.
Languages… Yes! I speak a few
Lucky to be fluent in English, Spanish and Catalan as well as getting by in Italian.
Since the age of 8-9 years old, I have been translating simultaneously between English, Spanish and vice-versa in all kinds of situations.
From general administration to notary public, from suppliers to business owners, from accountants to bank managers and so on, you name it and I have probably covered all of them.
So from a communication point of view, I cannot foresee any problems.
Here is a video of me speaking in Spanish
I am currently trying to learn French… Oui 😉
So, how do I stay up to date?
I spend at least an hour a day staying up to date on what goes on regarding online marketing, SEO, WordPress, productivity and technology.
You might be wondering how and why I do this?
I stay subscribed to the most relevant websites and listen to a bunch of trending Podcast.
During the week and pick out the best so I can digest the information over the weekend.
Over the year I further take several specific online courses (relevant to my industry) which expand my knowledge.
To stay on top of everything WordPress I currently run customer support at AsiThemes.com.
At the speed this industry moves I need to keep my know-how as fresh as possible ;).
As you can see I am constantly learning so I can provide you and your business as much value as possible at any time.
James Kockelbergh giving back
Over the years I have carried out many one-on-one consulting calls, wrote and recorded to do tutorials for my clients, spent time teaching others, done lots of screencasts and even been interviewed on a Podcast once or twice.
The one I enjoy the most is giving back through public speaking:
Video: just over a minute of James Kockelbergh teaching students about “estimates” in 2015.
Above is just a sample but I have been invited, over the years, to speak at:
- Rotary Club Menorca on a couple of occasions to share my thoughts on technology and fundraising.
- Once back in 2011 for the formal/deceased business association ABC Menorca where I spoke of the importance of having a blog on your website.
- Several times at BetaBeers Menorca about SEO myths (March 2014), WordPress Plugins (March 2015) and Mastermind Groups (July 2015).
- I was honoured to be invited to the First Besuricata (an evolution of BetaBeers Menorca), where I had the chance to share my knowledge about monetizing websites during a lovely evening in Ciutadella de Menorca at the end of July 2016. Gosh, it was warm ;).
- Once or twice a year I get invited to give motivational speeches and share insights with the students at one of the island’s mayor local colleges IES Joan Ramis i Ramis.
- On top of these, I could add numerous times that I have helped my clients and their staff/team members in group coaching sessions.
